Single Arm Skid Steer & How they Work

Stan: Alright guys, the sad truth is the Skid Steer training programs at a lot of companies go something like this. There's a pile of dirt, there's a skid loader, go. Well, we're going to try to fill in that middle part today so that if you're a noob to skid loaders and you get thrown into one of those positions, you feel a little bit more comfortable before hopping into a big giant piece of equipment that you've never ran before.

Stan: But we're going to be using something a little bit different than what you're usually familiar with seeing. We're going to be using a mono-boom or a single-boom skid loader. So before we launch the entire training session, which is four parts, we're going to actually compare and contrast, today, the differences, the critical differences, between a single-boom skid loader and a dual-boom skid loader. And then in parts two and three, we're going to actually go inside of that machine and start teaching you the basic operations. How to do things....

Caterpillar Skid Loader Vs BobCat Skid Steer at the GIE-Expo

Stan: This is just a massive machine. You notice that they pointed out they all face you. They all face the operator. I love what you said, they're not hidden back here. He's a grease Nazi, I found out. They call me the black Nazi, here's the grease Nazi. Every eight hours. But if you're missing the zerk, if you can't find that zerk, do you think that zerk is gonna get greased in 8 hours? No, then what's gonna happen is your pin is gonna wear out. When that doesn't get changed in time, then your bushing's gonna wear out and then you've got a big dump.

Travis: With something like a grommet like that, matters. We figured that out with Bobcat, it's kind of what I like about the Caterpillars, that the attention to detail is there. The price is higher, but things like that are not really happening on a- She said every 50 hours one light's gonna go out.

Stan: Oh, on a Bobcat?

Stan: I buy used Bobcats all the time.

Today I'm going to teach you how to thaw out the frozen loader. I'm going to teach you how to keep your loaders running all winter long without having problems. I'm also going to cover the early warning signs that a loader is starting to freeze up, allowing you to catch it and keep it operational before it becomes problematic. So let's get started. Bobcat Skid Steer Loader Review

Bobcat T-180

Today we're going to talk about the Bobcat T-180 and why you may want or may not want this machine in your company. We're going to cover the pros and cons of what this machine can do and what the limitations of this machine are. If you’re looking at a tracked machine, understand what kinds of Bobcat or any tracks machine. There is absolutely no give in this track system.  Not all tracks are created the same. Be careful when you buy a track machine, because you've got to get the right one for what you're doing. We work in the dirt.  You’ll see we've got a very aggressive tread design on here that works great in a situation like this.  But if you go to get on snow or ice, this machine won't move. When you get on hard pavement you're trying to plow with a machine like this forget it.  You're going to have a difficult time moving and you're going to have one hell of a sore back when you're done.
